Once cut to size all cut-out requirements and edge processing are completed prior to the glass being processed and toughened to comply with AS/NZS 2208:2023 Safety glazing materials in buildings, resulting in Grade A safety glass. This type of glass is commonly referred to as ‘Toughened Glass’.
‘Toughened Glass’ is approximately six times stronger than Float Glass and can withstand temperature differences of up to 280oC as opposed to 50-60oC for Float Glass. ‘Toughened Glass’ cannot be cut, drilled or machined in any shape or form.
NOTE: Geelong Splashbacks & Shower Screens ‘only’ uses glass that conforms to the Building Code of Australia ( BCA ). Requests or demands to use cheaper inferior glass ( non-toughened ) will result in Geelong Splashbacks & Shower Screens rejecting the project, regardless if others offer and quote cheaper options.
